As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and although we’ve really appreciated and enjoyed our time at the Department of Psychology at Harvard, we’ve recently come to a parting of the ways. Although I still have an association with the Psych Department, the Avian Cognition Lab has moved on. For the foreseeable future, the Lab is now being run entirely through The Alex Foundation. The Lab, which had to evacuate Harvard because of COVID, will stay in temporary rented space until the pandemic is over and we can decide on our next steps. The birds are being well-cared for by former members of the Lab, and we are running those projects that can be done by one person working alone, so that we can maintain appropriate social distancing. For the interim, we still cannot ship any items from our store, but some Foundation goodies can be ordered at Teespring.com. We still need donations to cover rent and pay our staff, for the birds’ veterinary care, food and toys! Any checks or physical correspondence should be sent to: The Alex Foundation, c/o Dr. Irene M. Pepperberg, 30 Curry Circle, Swampscott, MA; PayPal still works fine through our website!
